Africa summit unveils $40bn infrastructure plan

Leaders agree on a blueprint to boost cross-border trade and digital connectivity by 2030.

African heads of state have endorsed a $40 billion infrastructure package focused on transport corridors and high-speed internet access.

The deal, backed by regional lenders, aims to close critical gaps that have hampered the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Officials said projects will prioritize local labor and manufacturing to maximize the economic spillover.
